Okumidori First Harvest
Okumidori First Harvest
- Ultra-smooth texture
- Steamed greens, nutty notes
- Rare & exclusive
When we were sourcing matcha, we wanted something versatile—something that could wake you up with its full-bodied, gentle boldness when enjoyed straight, or offer a luxurious, indulgent experience as a creamy latte. Okumidori was the perfect fit with its balanced taste profile.
This rare cultivar, representing less than 3% of Japan’s green tea supply, is meticulously crafted. Each 30g packet takes an hour of stone milling, unlocking a smooth, balanced sweetness with delicate notes of steamed greens and buttery nuttiness. Our single-cultivar approach ensures you experience the full, distinct flavor of Okumidori in every cup, however you enjoy it.

This is a solid 8.5/10 for me! First impression was the natural sweetness and the rich umami at the end. I like my matcha naturally sweet (but not overly sweet) and I like the gentle bitterness in this. I can see myself making a cuppa conveniently because I don’t need to add sugar in it. It’s easy to drink daily.
Very smooth and balanced; not too bitter. Great if you want a one-and-done powder you can drink with both water or as latte.
This is my second order. Tried a bunch of matcha and still liked Mainichi Matcha's Okumidori First Harvest the most! It has natural sweetness and not astringent.
I really love the powder. I can taste the difference in quality compared to cheaper matcha. I’d give it 8.5. I appreciate how it’s not too vegetal and astringent and I look forward to trying more from the brand that are even deeper and bolder in flavour.
